Over the years (15 of them) I have had a lot of guys ask can I live in the PI on $500 a month, or $1,000 a month etc.  The below budget is only a guide line on what your expenses can be, your lifestyle is no doubt different than mine and you will place your priorities spending money places I didn't, maybe more, maybe less.  If you are furnishing your residence be advised appliances are more expensive here than they probably are in your home country.  The exchange rate for October 2007 when this was written was approximately P45 to a U.S. Dollar.

Car insurance and registration runs about P12,000 for the CRV, a year if you have a Chinese scooter the registration and insurance will cost around P1,500 a year, but don't expect to put in a claim and get reimbursed immediately, or sometimes ever.
