House Hunting:

Apartment/Rental House Searching in the Angeles Vicinity            April 5th, 2004

To Whom It May Concern:

There is no easy method to finding the right place to live in Angeles, houses and apartments for rent are not usually advertised other than a sign and a phone number on the gate, or sometimes they are advertised in the Monthly Blue Book.  At some subdivisions where a monthly fee is charged to live in the subdivision the main office may have a listing of what is available, or more than likely add you to a waiting list because nothing is available.

From my search over a 4 month period to move to adequate housing I will try and recall what I can of the subdivisions I traveled thru while looking. Map locations are in reference to the Oasis Hotel Angeles Map which as detailed as any available for free. The approximate prices I am quoting are for a 4 bedroom single house. 2 or 3 bedroom houses would of course be cheaper. Nowhere did I see a house for rent with a pool in my travels, however there are a few in town.

Sunset Valley Mansions: This is probably one of the best and most expensive subdivisions, however I did not look at the houses there as it was a little too far out of town on the Friendship Highway road towards Porac. Houses tend to run about $500 a month from what I have heard.

Villasol (2a on the map): This is where I finally settled and am partial to the area. Houses run the from approximately P10,000 to P13,000. Some nice houses available occasionally, but no advertisement.

Palridel Subd (D3 on the map): This is an older run down housing area with an office and a few good homes, security looks like a problem even though there is a main gate to the area. Houses run around the P12,000 range, but a housing division fee is added on.

Oasis Compound: (Near Oasis Hotel): Probably one of the nicest and most secure housing areas, a little more expensive than most and about a 2 or 3 year waiting list.

Timog Park (F2 on the map): This is an upscale area, but with the single lane bridge over the abacan river it makes commuting difficult. There is a main office that has a listing of houses available, many are for sale. The entrance gates have guards, but it appears break ins could be a problem. Houses run P14,000 on up. Biggest house is a 4 bedroom, which is really 3 full size bedrooms, and a maids room. This is about a 50% expat community.

Carmenville (H4 on the map): About the same description as Plaridel 2 above.

Clarkview (B4 on the map): Not an organized subdivision with a fence and guard, but there are a sprinkling of good houses. Not sure of the rent but in the neighborhood of P10,000.

Plaridel Sub 1 (C-6 on the map) Has a lot of rental properties managed by a rental agency, some good, some rundown. Not sure of rental costs.

Josefa Subd: (B7 on the map): Some good houses available, but not a good area for security.

Hensonville Homes (C8 on the map): A nice expat community with some of the best homes available, but hardly any for rent, hard to reach the office and get info.

Hensonville Plaza (D8 on the map): Same description as Hensonville homes above, a little more expensive area but nice. Rent would be around P15,000.

Josefaville 2 (D6 on the map): Good area with waiting list, swimming pool for the division to use, has an office, long waiting list, good security. Houses run P18,000 or the equivalent in dollar prices.

Santa Maria behind Fields Ave (B8 on the map): Expensive because close to fields Ave, robberies of persons or break ins are a problem after dark. 2 bedroom apartment, furnished: P15,000 a month.  (Note: there was a murder in this area a month ago, and several new break ins as of Jul 26, 2004)

Mountain View (A10 on the map): During the days of the base this was a good area, now the available houses are pretty rundown. Don’t know the costs, but probably cheap, and not secure.

Santa Maria 1 (D9 on the map): Mostly Filipino community, not sure of prices and security, although there is an entrance with a guard.

Diamond Subd (C10/11 on the map): A lot of expats live in this area, rentals are around P14,000 or so. Not sure about security, busy subdivision, quite a few houses available at times.

Marisol Subd (E11 on the map): Some houses available, but getting away from fields ave where traffic is a problem, especially with the new Robinsons Store getting ready to open in the next few months.

If you have additional housing information you would like to submit to me for posting please send me an email.
